Port Blair, June 21: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,83,161 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,567 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years and 13,204 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 12 to 14 years. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 26,911.

Port Blair, June 21: Eight positive cases have been detected today of which, six were from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 12 flights with 1782 passengers arrived, out of which, 1547 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 172 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, June 20: The Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India organized a Sub Zonal Meet on 8 Years of Achievement- the impact on women and children in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education here today which was participated by representatives from States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and host A&N Islands. The meet was chaired by Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Hon’ble Minister of State, Women & Child Development and AYUSH in the august presence of the Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency.

Youth should not be misled by misinformation campaign over ‘Agnipath’: Admiral DK Joshi

Port Blair, June 20: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency has made a fervent appeal to the youth not to be misled by misinformation and disinformation spread on the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ announced by the Govt. of India. Calling it an ‘important scheme’ for the country and for those interested in working for the defence forces, Lt Governor advised the youth to look into the positive aspects of the scheme which provides financial benefit and also has the option of continuing the service. In an interview telecast by Doordarshan Port Blair and broadcast by All India Radio, Port Blair on ‘Agnipath Scheme’ which is also available on youtube link https://youtu.be/ekMGgWjsfkg, the Lt Governor said, as per the scheme, some will be retained while for others the options are unlimited.

Port Blair, June 20: The State President, BJP, Shri Ajoy Bairagi has requested the Secretary, RD & Panchayat to pay necessary compensation to the victims whose house has been completely destroyed after a tree fell on it. In his letter Bairagi mentioned that the house which was under construction under the scheme PM Awas Yojana of Shri Pradeep Sil, S/o Gauranga Sil, R/o Kishorinagar was damaged completely before even completing and occupying it after a tree fell on it. The situation is such that the house is totally damaged and is beyond repair and non-livable.
