Port Blair, Feb 21: The CPI (M) has expressed serious concern over the lack of initiative on the part of the central government and Andaman and Nicobar Administration to attract tourists to these islands.   In a  letter  addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee, while referring to the issue of  keeping the toilets  closed in the Passenger Hall at Middle Strait,  said that while other States/UTs on the mainland are providing all the facilities for visiting tourists, even way-side facilities to answer call of nature for the tourists visiting such a distsant place  like Middle Strait from the town are not provided by the Administration.

Port Blair, Feb 21: Three more chess trainers from the A & N Islands have successfully completed the chess training program held in Kolkata, West Bengal, and obtained the chess instructor title.

V Pourshotham, has attained the National Instructor (NI) title while K Tammaiah, DI and M Gurumurthy, DI attained the title of Developmental Instructor.

The meeting aimed at galvanising grass root workers and infusing fresh energy into the party ahead of the upcoming MP election.

Port Blair, Feb 21: A moment of pride for the Islands as the 1st All India Pencak Silat Championship 2023-2024 took place from February 18 to 19, 2024. The event featured categories for Singa/Macan/Preteen/Subjunior/Junior (Boys & Girls) & Senior (Men & Women) at the District Sports Complex, Shri Govind Singh Jii Stadium in Nanded, Maharashtra. The Islands’ Pencak Silat team, comprising 10 players, achieved remarkable success with a total of 10 medals, including 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 7 Bronze.

Port Blair, Feb 21: The Election Commission of India has launched the logo and tagline for the Multimedia Campaign for forthcoming Parliamentary Elections – 2024. The logo and the tagline is ‘Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv’. The ‘Chunav Ka Parv’ reflects the nationalistic flavour of the Election process. A festival involving every citizen with one singular objective- Nation Building.
