Port Blair, Nov. 8: The State Institute of Education, Port Blair will be conducting the NMMSS Examination in A&N Islands on 17th December, 2022 under the guidance of Ministry of Education (MoE). The selection test/ examination will be conducted to select students presently studying in Class VIII for award of Scholarship under the centrally sponsored scheme ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ (NMMSS) for the academic session 2022-2023.

Port Blair, Nov. 8: The Election Commission of India has ordered a Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll – 2023 with reference to 01.01.2023 as the age qualifying date. The Summary Revision for Parliamentary Electoral Roll will commence from Nov.9, 2022 with the publication of Draft Electoral Roll -2023.

Claims & Objections, if any, should either be presented with concerned Designated Officers/Booth Level Officers at all designed Polling Stations or sent by post to the Electoral Registration Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency or concerned Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or though ‘Voter helpline App’ a mobile app, websites at the given link https://www.nvsp.in or https:// voterportal.eci.gov.in , so as to reach not later than Dec.8, 2022.  List of claims & objections filed by the citizen will be published on the CEO’s website – www.ceoandaman.nic.in.

Port Blair, Nov. 8: No COVID positive case has been detected in A&N Islands. Today, 16 flights with 2692 passengers arrived, out of which, 2476 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 66 passengers and the reports are awaited.

CPI(M) Meeting Demands CBI Probe to Unearth the Facts

Port Blair, Nov. 7: The meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of CPI (M) held on 5th November 2022 at Port Blair observed with grave concern and anguish that corruption is increasing in these islands with the overt or covert patronage of the BJP-led government at the centre.  

During the last 2 - 3 years, particularly during the tenure of the rape accused former Chief Secretary, the corruption was at its zenith with the allegations of large scale collection of money from the businessmen and others by some of the officials of the Administration, the meeting observed. There were allegations of corruption of in grant of Bar licenses, renewal of bar licenses, quarry licenses, purchase of buses in the Transport Department, etc.
