International Women's day is celebrated globally on the 8th March to honour the achievements of women in various fields. The theme of this year is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow".

I extend my greetings to all the women around the world, especially women in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on International Women's Day, which is an occasion to celebrate and emulate the success of women in different walks of life.

Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shri Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal (Age 74 years), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) National Chairman and a spiritual leader who passed away at Ernakulam, Kerala on 6th March 2022. He prayed to the Almighty to give eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Port Blair, March 7: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Andaman & Nicobar State Committee will be observing International Women’s Day today.  The main programme will be organized at the Hotel ACC Hall, Mohanpura, Port Blair at 4.00 p.m. on 8th March 2022. CITU has decided to observe this year’s International Women’s Day as “Working Women’s Action Day” in continuity of the working women’s countrywide ongoing agitations.
