MoS for Women & Child Development and AYUSH and Lt Governor participates in mass yoga demonstration held at iconic National Memorial Cellular Jail

Port Blair, June 21: Together with the rest of the country and world, the 8th edition of International Yoga Day (IDY) was celebrated in A&N Islands too in a befitting manner today. The main function was held in the precincts of the iconic National Memorial Cellular Jail. Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Women & Child Development and AYUSH was the chief guest on the occasion while Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency was the guest of honour.

Port Blair, June 21: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators celebrated International Day of Yoga with various programmes in Port Blair & Swaraj Dweep. AATO in association with Ayush and Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India organised Aquatic Yoga at hotel Sea Port in Dollygunj. Divers from Coast Guard demonstrated Aquatic Yoga in the swimming pool.

Port Blair, June 21: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had designed special programmes for the specially-abled and transgender population, women and children during the occasion of International Yoga Day. The 8th edition of International Yoga Day will also witness an innovative programme ‘Guardian Ring’ that will see the participation of enthusiasts, along with the sun’s movement, i.e. beginning from the east and marching towards the west.

Port Blair, June 21: On 18th June, 2022, A&N Traffic Police conducted a Nukkad Natak in collaboration with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi at Flag Point to create road safety awareness amongst the general public. Around 10 participants from Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi have acted in this Nukkad Natak. They performed two different acts, one of which highlighted the case of a bus driver who was driving the bus in a dangerous manner while using his mobile phone and getting into an accident. The another act highlighted the case of a youngster who did not wear helmet while riding a motorcycle and drove rashly resulting in a fatal accident. Around 200 people witnessed the act.
