Port Blair, April 22: The health teams designated in various vaccination centres spread across the Islands are vaccinating all the beneficiaries who visit the centre on a daily basis. Today, 2318 doses of vaccines were administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams, taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 94,560.

Port Blair, April 22: The State Unit of Kesaria Hindu Vahini Trust in collaboration with District Administration today conducted a Covid-19 Vaccination Drive in the Community Hall of Calicut. In this camp 297 people above the age group of 45 were vaccinated. Marking this as a remarkable achievement, Shri Hari Kallikat , SDM South Andaman during his visit to the camp appreciated the effort of Kesaria Hindu Vahini and the team.

Port Blair, April 21: In view of detection of a number of COVID-19 positive cases in the South Andaman district, eight areas have been declared as Containment Zones as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time.

The areas declared as Containment Zones include Haddo Part, Junglighat Part, Dollygunj Part, Prothrapur Part, Bhatubasti Part, Garacharma Part, Bambooflat Part and Wimberlygunj Part.

Port Blair, April 22: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands to make arrangements for sailing of ship for Campbell Bay for transportation of stranded people which include senior citizens, students, patients, businessmen and Govt. servants who are stuck at Port Blair due to non-availability of ship. These people had come to Port Blair from Campbell Bay for urgent works and were expecting to return after finishing their works. With no availability of sailings, they face hardships and are unable to bear the expenses for their stay at lodges and food etc.

Port Blair, April 21: To tackle the recent surge in the COVID positive cases in the South Andaman and to prevent the further spread of virus the Administration has taken various proactive steps. In this connection few areas in and around South Andaman District were declared containment zones to restrict the movement of suspected cases.

Team comprising of officials from Revenue, Police, APWD and PBMC have been formed for the areas to maintain strict perimeter control and ensure that there is no movement of people in or out of these zones, except for medical emergencies and for maintaining supply of essential goods and services. Further only essential activities and services shall be allowed in the containment zones and intensive house-to-house surveillance is conducted by surveillance teams formed for the purpose.
