Port Blair, Oct. 20: Continuing its zero tolerance approach towards the menace of drugs, PS Aberdeen team has succeeded in registering two cases under NDPS Act within a week and has arrested three persons who were supplying drugs to students.

Acting on a tip off received on 16.10.2023 and 18.10.2023 from reliable sources, a raiding team led by Insp. Girish Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen, accompanied with HC/417 Vinod Kumar, HC/2329 Nakul Halder, PC/866 S N Rao, PC/885 Jayraj, PC/2834 Naw Elieen, PC/430 Jagdish Babu, PC/175 S.S Yadav and PC/2849 B. Kumar Swamy conducted two consecutive raids at Dean Street and near JNRM, Port Blair respectively.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized a 4 days Orientation Workshop-cum-Training on Targeted Intervention (TI) under National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and its reporting on SOCH Portal for the Officials and Staff of NGO, Jan Lok Kalyan Parishad from Oct.16 to 19, 2023. An NGO from Jharkhand, Jan Lok Kalyan Parishad was on-boarded for implementing TI program under NACP in the South Andaman District of A & N Islands on 8th September, 2023.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Shri. Rangalal Halder highlighted the issues pertaining to the shortage of doctors and nurse staff at the Chemo and Immunotherapy unit of GB Pant Hospital.

Addressing a letter to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Halder said that patients undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments have reached an alarming level as the Medical Administration Lacks with dedicated and skilled healthcare professionals at the GB Pant Hospital.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) day will be observed on 21st October, 2023, by the Directorate of Health Services in association with Union Territory Health Mission with the aim to zero mental and physical retardation, deaf & mutism, cretinism, still births, abortion etc., due to lack of Iodine.
