Trade Bandh Paralyses Port Blair City and Adjoining Areas

Port Blair, April 12: The ‘Trade Bandh’ called by the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry today, received a tremendous response from the traders in Andaman Islands, including the private public transport operators, thus paralysing the capital city Port Blair and adjoining areas.

The Trade Bandh was a token of protest against the hampered development in all sectors of A&N Islands. The Bandh started at 6.00 am and concluded at 6.00 pm and was a peaceful one with no untoward incidents reported. Support was received from all corners of the traders including vegetable and fish vendors to bigger businesses. Though government offices and schools remained open, it remained low in attendance with the private public transport operators supporting the call.

Diglipur, April 12: The ANTCC President, Shri Rangalal Halder, Campaign Committee Chairman, Shri. TSG Bhasker and Chairman, Adivasi Congress Mr. Sebastian Tirkey on Tuesday visited the villages of Gandhi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar and Shanti Nagar under the leadership of Senior Congress leader Shri. Ujjal Das and heard the grievances of villagers and tried to solve them as well.

Port Blair, April 12: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor to construct a Jetty at Shoal Bay, which could serve as a vital link to Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep, generate employment and also boost the local economy of Shoal Bay area.

During a meeting with Hon’ble Lt. Governor on 11th April 2023, Kuldeep Rai Sharma highlighted a number of burning issues and construction of Jetty at Shoal Bay was one of the prominent issues.

Port Blair, April 12: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS today launched the First Doctor Mobile Application for screening Oral Cancer in A&N Islands in the presence of Commissioner- cum-Secretary (Health) Shri Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Health), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Director (ANIIMS), Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director (DHS), Dr. Munni Singhania, HOD, Deptt. of Dentistry, ANIIMS, Dr. Ajay Verma, other Senior Doctors of GBPH/ANIIMS. The main objective of this App is to provide early detection and early intervention of precancerous lesions and other oral health problems through self-clicked pictures uploaded on the app. The Mobile App was developed by the Department of Dentistry, ANIIMS in collaboration with Quad Monk Solutions and RSI Pvt. Ltd. This facility will enable the person to get the provisional diagnosis within 48 hrs once downloaded.
