Port Blair, April 12: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has declared that all Government Offices in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands including industrial establishments will remain closed on 14th April, 2023 on account of birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar in accordance with the instructions contained in the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Trainings Office memorandum number 12/4/2020-JCA dated 11th April, 2023.

Port Blair, April 12: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS today inaugurated the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) established by ANIIMS, Port Blair with the support of the Ministry of Health Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India at GB Pant Hospital/ANIIMS. The Commissioner-cum- Secretary (Health), Shri Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Health), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, OSD (ANIIMS), Dr. Anil Aggarwal, Director (ANIIMS), Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director (Health Services), Dr. Munni Singhania, Senior Doctors and faculty of GB Pant Hospital/ ANIIMS, Director (ICMR), Dr. Vijayachari were present on the occasion.

Port Blair, April 12: An awareness programme was organized on “Popularization of Biological control of fly in Livestock species” by Division of Animal Science, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair at Indiranagar, South Andaman on 11th April, 2023. The programme was coordinated by Dr. P.A. Bala, Dr. P. Perumal and Dr. A.K. De, Scientists of the ICAR-CIARI.

Port Blair, April 12: A delegation of CITU A&N State Committee today (12.04.2023) met the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and submitted a letter urging the Administration to implement the order of the High Court on 1/30th of pay plus DA case.
In the letter, CITU drew the attention of the Chief Secretary to the judgement dated 19th December 2022 of the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta (Port Blair Circuit Bench) in MA/9/2020 (Lt Governor –vs- ASNVMS) by which the Hon’ble High Court had directed the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to extend the benefit of 1/30th of pay plus DA to all the daily rated mazdoors working under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
