Port Blair, May 29: After the flight services resumed in Port Blair sector on 25th May 2020, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, based on the National Directives on COVID-19 had allowed the passengers without quarantine, under conditions of self-observation. Though, due thermal testing and other related formalities were done upon the arrival of passengers at the airport, two passengers out of a total of five who reached Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island) were tested after one elderly person showed COVID-19 like symptoms. The two had reached Neil Island in the afternoon of 27th May 2020.

Civic Chief Writes to Lt. Governor Suggesting Separate Department to Deal with Water Supply Issues

Bar Association Takes Up the Matter before Hon’ble High Court
Port Blair, May 28: Continuing the Writ Petition W.P. No. 5324(W) of 2020 relating to COVID-19 relief and services at the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association led by its President, Shri Mohammed Tabraiz had pointed out before the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has adopted dual standards for incoming islanders, which is posing danger to the islanders who are landlocked with limited medical facilities.

Port Blair, May 29: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) is operating eleven Petroleum Outlets across A & N Islands including in remotest Islands of Kamorta, Katchal, Teressa & Campbell Bay. Presently, there is no fuel outlet at Kadamtala, due to which the general public is facing difficulties in meeting their fuel requirements.

Port Blair, May 28: Continuing the Writ Petition W.P. No. 5324(W) of 2020, the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association led by its President, Shri Mohammed Tabraiz had pointed out before the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair that the undersea cable operating from Chennai is ready for operation in segment 1. i.e. Port Blair to Diglipur and Segment 2 i.e. Havelock, whereas segments 2, 3, 4 and 5 would require some time. Inspite of segments 1 and 6 being ready for operation, the islanders are being deprived of the facility when the islanders need the most, particularly for online classes of the students, operation of Video Conference in Courts and medical purpose.
