Port Blair, Nov. 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to strengthen the Andaman & Nicobar Fire Service unit to tackle any major future Fire Accident in multiple fronts.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, he mentioned that on the day of Diwali, two major Fire accidents have been reported from Phoenix Bay and Dairy Farm areas of Port Blair city.

He said that both incidents resulted in the substantial loss of property, valued at several lakhs, adversely affecting numerous families.

Port Blair, Nov. 16: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI wrote a letter to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands for releasing of funds as compensation to fire victims and also make necessary arrangements for their temporary stay and rehabilitation.

In his letter Jolly wrote that a massive fire accident that rocked Port Blair on Diwali day i.e. 12th November, 2023, which caused colossal of damage to the properties belonging to the fire victims and stressed about the following points on incidents: -

Port Blair, Nov. 16: CITU, A&N State Committee organized mass demonstration, procession and public meeting today (16.11.2023) at Port Blair on various issues of workers like (i) Immediate revision of minimum wages for scheduled employment (ii) Against anti-labour actions of Labour Department (iii) Restore Sunday wages to 1/30th pay daily rated mazdoors (iv) Against price rise, etc. Hundreds of workers assembled in front of the office of the Labour Commissioner and staged a mass demonstration condemning the inaction on the part of the Labour Department on revision of minimum wages and anti-labour actions of officers of Labour Department. After staging mass demonstration, the workers took out a huge procession in the Port Blair town which culminated in a public meeting at Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazar.
