Port Blair, May 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to construct more Andaman Guest Houses at Chennai and Kolkata.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that as the summer vacation has begun there is a huge demand for rooms in Andaman Guest House at Chennai and Kolkata.

Port Blair, May 10: A 3 days training programme on Freshwater Ornamental Fish Breeding got underway today with its inauguration by Shri G. Sudhakar, IAS, Secretary (Fisheries) at Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill.

In his inaugural address, the Secretary (Fisheries) encouraged the participants to take up freshwater ornamental fish breeding as a commercial activity by forming SHGs and societies to reap the benefit extended by the Department through PMMSY. He also expressed happiness in the interest shown by women participants in the training programme.

TSG Bhasker met Secretary (Health) Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS at his office this evening and discussed various issues pertaining to the health sector in A&N Islands.

Port Blair, May 10: In view of recent cyclonic alert as per Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) report, Cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over South East Bay of Bengal, which may concentrate into a deep depression over South East Bay of Bengal, the Electricity Department has appealed to the consumers to pass on information to the nearest site office, if they observe flash, abnormal sound in the power system, so that the technical team can reach and solve the problem. The falling and snapping of line could be dangerous; hence the citizens have been requested to report such happenings to the nearest Site Offices, Police Stations, Fire Brigade, so that safety measures can be taken. They have also been requested to stay away from the snapped lines.
