Port Blair, July 14: Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 15. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 16. On July 17 & 18, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed 40-50 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands.  

Port Blair, July 13: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in a letter addressed to the Joint Secretary (UT), Ministry of Home Affairs has demanded the bifurcation of 50% promotion quota of DANICS and allotting the rightful percentage for the feeder cadres of Andaman & Nicobar Islands so that the stagnated feeder cadre officials can be promoted to DANICS Entry Grade.

Diglipur, July 13: Five more foreign poachers were apprehended during the on-going anti-poaching operation near Loha Tikrey come under PS Kalighat jurisdiction. A team of A&N Police SI Dhiraj Kishan, HCs Khokan Ch.Das, Alaxander, Cts Rakesh Chander Rathore, Raj Kamal and PCs Elazier & P.K Mohd. Zunaid under the supervision of Insp. Anirudra Mondal have been sent to conduct anti-poaching operation near Loha Tikrey where more foreign poachers were suspected to be hidden. Successful apprehension of 11 foreign poachers from the earlier operations, SI Dhiraj Kishan’s team too conducted a massive search at sea and land near the Loha Tikrey area, and on 12.07.2023, during search, the team noticed movement of poachers in 02 Nos. engine dinghies near Loha Tikrey. Responding rapidly, the team cautioned them to stop but on seeing the team, the poachers tried to flew away but the team risking their lives in the creek, courageously chased them and successfully apprehended 05 foreign poachers and seized 2 Nos. engine dinghies containing large quantity of sea cucumber and other survival articles.

Port Blair, July 13: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded suitable compensation for victim families of yesterday’s fire incident where a fierce fire engulfed a residential house at Lambaline. This unfortunate incident has left many devastated and in urgent need of assistance.

Port Blair, July 13: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) District Headquarters No. 9 (Diglipur) conducted a two day Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR) Workshop on 12 & 13 Jul 23. The Workshop was held to foster coordination and integration amongst stakeholders involved in Search and Rescue operations in sea area off North and Middle Andaman. The Workshop was attended by representatives of Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, North and Middle Andaman Administration, Fisheries Department, Port Management Board (PMB), Forest Department and Police Marine Force. The Workshop highlighted the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder and focussed on improving coordination between the stakeholders. During the Workshop demonstration of rescue techniques for vessels and crew in distress was also undertaken by the Coast Guard Interceptor Boats, off Diglipur.
