Port Blair, July 22: The residents of Mus village in Car Nicobar Island are living in fear as the land near the jetty has been witnessing massive soil erosion since the past 20 years. The foundation of the shoreline protection seawall was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to Car Nicobar on 30th December 2018. However the construction work has not started yet and has created panic among the villagers living near the shoreline.

Chennai/ Port Blair, July 21: The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, consisting of flagship USS Nimitz (CVN 68), Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) and Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Sterett (DDG 104) and USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114), participated in cooperative exercises with the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean commencing July 20.

Port Blair, July 21: On receipt of information from State Emergency Operation Centre, Port Blair regarding ‘Deep Ocean Tsunami Detection Buoy’, reported to be adrift in north Andaman Sea, Indian Coast Guard immediately launched sea-air coordinated search operation to locate and recover the buoy. Coast Guard aircraft deployed for aerial search, located the buoy on the shores of West Island, and relayed the coordinates to Coast Guard Ship operating in area. Despite rough weather and high swell, Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajveer successfully recovered the buoy on 19 Jul 20 and towed this important Ocean Observing Instrument to Diglipur.
