Port Blair, Aug. 6: The Andaman & Nicobar is in a bad shape when it comes to COVID-19 management. With almost 90 plus positive cases being recorded every day and the recovery rate falling, the situation seems to have gone out of control. As on date there are 16 deaths recorded officially due to the virus and as many as 700 plus active cases. The figure of active cases is expected to touch the 1000 mark in couple of days.  

Port Blair, Aug 6: Covid-19 has finally managed to creep into the tribal islands of the Nicobae District. As many as 7 cases have been confirmed in Car Nicobar, the headquarters of Nicobar District. Sources confirm that the Education Officer, Mr Nathaniel, an ANM and five others have been tested positive to the virus.

Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chennai - Andaman and Nicobar Islands Submarine Cable System (CANI - SMCP) on 10th of August 2020. The foundation stone of the project was also laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi on 30th of December 2018 during his visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is important to mention that the Submarine Cable is a long pending demand of the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Bharatiya Janata Party worked hard to make this possible.

Mayabunder, Aug 6: Keeping in view the increased cases being reported in South Andaman District resulting in increased chances of ship passengers to be infected, who come to North & Middle Andaman District and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the N&M Andaman, the District Magistrate, N&M Andaman has directed that all persons coming to the district must undergo home quarantine for 14 days mandatorily from the date of arrival into the district.

Port Blair, Aug 6: A Home Guard has been placed in isolation at PHC Baratang after he tested positive to the Corona Virus. The test was conducted using Rapid Test Kit. With this corona positive cases have spread across the archipelago, right from North Andaman to the Tribal Nicobars.
