Enthusiasm Among the Youth for Sports Lauded

Diglipur, Aug 30: The heavy rain overnight in the North Andaman region did pose challenges to the organizers at Diglipur, in the morning to conduct sports’ activities to join the Nation in the celebration of National Sports Day.  But the rains could not lower their enthusiasm.

The Subhash Gram Panchayat’s organizing team under the leadership of Pradhan Shri P.R. Singaram had ensured all the preparations were ready and the sportsmen too were eagerly waiting for the downpour to stop for a while at least. The sports lovers in and around Diglipur area came out of their homes in the morning around 5.30 AM when the rain stopped and the marathon got started by the chief guest, the Deputy Education Officer, Shri S. Suresh Kumar.

Port Blair, Aug 30: The Maiden Open Badminton tournament organised by the Ambitious Badminton Club Dairy Farm (ABCD) concluded successfully at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indoor Badminton Court Dairy Farm, here today. The badminton tournament was organised in connection with National Sports Day 2023 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey Wizard, Major Dhyan Chand. Around 50 players participated in two different categories viz. Men’s Single and Men’s Double.

Port Blair, Aug 30: To mark the National Sports Day, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma organized the ‘MP CUP’' Knockout Football Tournament at Guptapara and Manarghat villages of South Andaman today.

In the Football Tournament organised at Guptapara, total six teams participated and the final match was played between Guptapara and Wandoor.  The Wondoor Team finally won the Tournament.

Port Blair, Aug. 30: Kala Kendra-A Society under the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration will be organizing Patriotic Dance and Song competition on 2nd September, 2023 at 6 pm at Flag Point. For patriotic dance competition, only groups will be allowed with minimum 8 artists whereas patriotic songs will be conducted in two categories, solo and group songs. Patriotic Songs should be presented with live Indian or western musical instruments. Both film & non-film based songs and dances will be allowed. These competitions are open and there is no age bar for any category.
