A&N Administration committed to provide social security to women & children through various schemes: Lt Governor

Port Blair, June 20: The Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India organized a Sub Zonal Meet on 8 Years of Achievement- the impact on women and children in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education here today which was participated by representatives from States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and host A&N Islands. The meet was chaired by Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Hon’ble Minister of State, Women & Child Development and AYUSH in the august presence of the Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency.

Port Blair, June 20: The State President, BJP, Shri Ajoy Bairagi has requested the Secretary, RD & Panchayat to pay necessary compensation to the victims whose house has been completely destroyed after a tree fell on it. In his letter Bairagi mentioned that the house which was under construction under the scheme PM Awas Yojana of Shri Pradeep Sil, S/o Gauranga Sil, R/o Kishorinagar was damaged completely before even completing and occupying it after a tree fell on it. The situation is such that the house is totally damaged and is beyond repair and non-livable.

21st June has been recognised as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in year 2014. Since then, the IDY has been observed across the globe with great enthusiasm and vehemence. The theme for 8th edition of IDY is ‘Yoga for Humanity’.  To mark the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Mass Yoga Practices are being organized at 75 Iconic locations of the Country including National Memorial Cellular Jail at Port Blair on 21st June, 2022.

Port Blair, June 20: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,83,058 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,567 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years and 13,188 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 12 to 14 years. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 26801.
