Port Blair, June 13: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to start direct ferry from Port Blair to Long Island on alternative days to promote tourism of Long Island.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that despite its breath-taking beaches and natural charm, Long Island is still struggling to establish itself as a major player in the tourism industry.

Port Blair, June 13: An open Body Hunt 3 NPC Men’s Physique and Classic Body Building Men’s & Women’s Championship was held successfully on 11th June 2023 at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium. The aim of the competition was to create awareness about the sport and to encourage the youths of the Islands to learn the sport and lead a healthy life.

Shri Azizur Rehman, Ex- Sr. Vice Chairperson, PBMC was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Advocate Rakesh Pal Govind was the guest of honour. The celebrity guest for the event was Shri Sayed Israr, National Body Builder.

Port Blair, June 13: The seasonal freshwater fish seed production through induced breeding successfully commenced in Freshwater Fish Seed Farm, Nayagoan of Department of Fisheries. The Departmental fish seed farm is operating with sufficient Breeder/Nursery ponds/Circular hatchery for systematic selection, breeding and seed production of Indian Major Carps including Catla, Rohu and Mrigal to cater the demand of freshwater fish seed thereby promoting Freshwater Aquaculture activities in A&N Islands. The breeding season starts from the month of June and closes by October every year. During this period, fresh water fish seed of various stages (Spawn, Fry and Fingerlings) is produced and supplied to the fish farmers at nominal rates for further stocking in their ponds.
