Port Blair, Oct. 23: As part of the Special Campaign 3.0 for institutionalizing Swachhata and minimizing pendency in Government Offices from Oct.2 to 31, 2023, the Office of the Urban Development, Secretariat, A&N Administration, Port Blair had joined hands with PBMC in the massive cleanliness drive held in and around Urban Development Building. The Regular and Sanitary staff members led by Shri Emmanuel, Deputy Secretary (PWD/UD/Labour), Secretariat, A&N Administration conducted shramdan today. The cleanliness drive will continue till Oct.31, 2023 in Government Offices.

Port Blair, Oct. 22: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 190-meter long CC (Concrete Cement) road with side drains at Ward Number 23 on 20.10.2023.

The construction work with an estimated cost of about Rs. 37,00,000 was sanctioned by the Member of Parliament under MPLADS funds, following demands raised by people of the region.

Mumbai, Oct. 22: Makruzz, a pioneering passenger ferry service provider in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has been conferred with the prestigious Maritime Excellence Award at the Global Maritime Summit 2023 by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.

This esteemed award was presented during the grand Valedictory session by the Honourable Minister of Shipping, Shri Sarbanand Sonawal, and graced by a galaxy of central ministers, including the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, and Minister of State for Shipping, Shri Shantanu Thakur and Shri Shripad Nayak.

Port Blair, Oct. 22: On 21/10/2023, along with the Police forces of States/UTs and all Central Armed Forces/Central Police Organizations, the Andaman & Nicobar Police conducted ‘National Police Commemoration Day Parade-2023’ in a befitting manner at Parade Ground, Police Lines to pay homage to the Police personnel, who laid their lives during the year while serving the nation. Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Islands, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Smti. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner cum secretary A&N Admn., Air Commodore Mohit Shisodia of A&N Command, DIG Pradeep B Mandal of Indian Coast Guard, and other senior officers of A&N Administration, A&N Police and AN Command paid tributes to the brave souls by placing the wreaths & flowers at the “Shaheed Smarak”.

Port Blair, Oct. 22: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration to bring pay parity among the Part time employees of Education department.

In his letter he drew the facts about the introduction of Part time employees in Education department who are working for more than 8 hours a day but designated as Part time employees. They were selected from the merit list of open recruitment for the post of Group D held in 1998. A total of around 200 persons were engaged on Part time basis / Groundman / Watchman etc. required for the department. Afterwards the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs came into existence in the year 2003 – 04, the engaged persons were divided into two parts as per the requirement and the persons posted at Sports & Youth Affairs were granted 1/30th of Pay vide their office order no. 138 dt. 04.10.2018.
