Port Blair, Nov. 13: In a major fire reported on the evening of Diwali on Nov. 12, 2023, two wooden buildings inside the Port Blair city were turned to ashes following the accident.
The first accident was reported at around 6.30 pm when a wooden structure at Phoenix Bay near Hotel TSG Emerald View caught fire. Soon after the call was received at the Fire HQ, Water Bouzers from the Head Quarter was diverted. Meanwhile all standby Water Bouzers were also diverted to the spot. Additional help was sought from the Indian Navy, who had also reached the spot. Apart from the above, the TSG Management had also arranged for water tankers to support firefighting. The fire fighters also received the support of the general public, who were seen helping the fire fighters.

Port Blair, Nov. 13: The South Andaman District Police has succeeded in solving a blind theft case within a short span of time showing professionalism resulting in the arrest and apprehension of accused persons namely (i) Jitan Kalu Solanki, R/o Sr. No. 106 Gosavi Vasti near Pune Solapur Highway, Headapsar, Pune City, Maharashtra and (ii) Palash Sarkar, R/o Humfrygunj involved in the crime.

Port Blair, Nov. 13: CITU organized a public meeting at Campbell Bay bazaar on the evening of 11th November 2023. Addressing the public meeting, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee, who is currently on a visit to Great Nicobar Island, expressed concern over the growing unemployment in the Islands and the failure of the BJP government at the centre to create job opportunities for the local youth.
