Ganja, Charas and Banned Codeine Based Syrup Seized From the Position of Drug Peddler

Port Blair, June 16: On 14/06/2020, credible information was received that a person arriving from Delhi by Indigo flight carries psychotropic substances. The suspected person namely Nippi S/o Ompal (39) yrs. R/o Prem Nagar Basti was identified and intercepted at airport entry/exit gate by the South Andaman District Special Team comprising SI M. Abdul Rasheed, ASI Surya Narayan, Police Constables Bipul Halder & M. Santosh Kumar headed by Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen. During personal search of the suspected person and his belongings after observing codal formalities: 04 nos. 50 ml bottles of Triprolidine Hydrochlorided & Codeine Phosphate (1.25 mg + 10 mg) syrup, 27 grams illicit charas and 36 grams illicit ganja wrapped in news papers was recovered from his possession. The ganja, charas and banned codeine based syrup were seized on the spot and accused person was arrested. A case under NDPS Act 1985 has been registered against the accused person at PS Aberdeen.

Sanghi, Chief Secretary and Shri K.R. Meena, Pr. Secretary (Home/Health) attended the Video conference taken by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Home Minister with Central Ministers and CMs of States/UTs. The present status and safety protocol implementation against COVID-19 in the Islands were reported in detail to the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Resumption of various development projects, infrastructure, tourism and IDA projects in the Islands were also detailed during the conference.

Port Blair, June 15: Having learnt about 48 islanders stranded at Kolkata since past three months, with no money to even avail the ship tickets, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, President and MP Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma immediately directed the President, Andaman & Nicobar Youth Congress, Shri. John Robert Babu to arrange for their transportation from Durgapur to Khidirpur in Kolkatta.

Port Blair, June 16: Few of the general public/Garage workshop owners have left their used vehicles abandoned on the road side causing hindrance to the free movement of vehicular traffic. Hence, the general public/Garage workshop owners are advised not to park their vehicles by the road side, if found suitable action will be taken as per Motor Vehicle Act and other acts accordingly.

Port Blair, June 15: Lieutenant General Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM inspected the Joint Forces Guard of Honour at INAS Utkrosh on 15th Jun 2020 on taking over as the 15th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN). Lieutenant General Manoj Pande assumed responsibilities of CINCAN on 01st Jun 2020. The ceremonial parade comprising of personnel of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard was commanded by Commander Siddharth Raut. The personnel on parade strictly adhered to Covid related precautions and guidelines while presenting the Guard of Honour.
