Port Blair, Sept. 28: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a short term Skill Development training program on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell, Wood and Cane & Bamboo) products’ at Bambooflat-II Gram Panchayat from Sept.12 to 27, 2022. Altogether, 15 candidates participated in the training program and were imparted the basic skills and knowledge for making handicrafts, thus creating self-employment opportunities and boosting of the economy of Islands.

Port Blair, Sept. 28: Chinmaya Mission Port Blair will be celebrating International Elders Day on October 1, 2022 with Walkathon and Felicitation of Super Senior Citizens (80 Plus).

The Walkathon will be held on October 1, 2022 at 6 am from Gandhi Park to Mission. The walkathon is open for all senior Citizens (58 plus) including females.

Port Blair, Sept. 28: The Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be organizing Startup Pitching and Open Forum Discussion in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Industries on 30th September, 2022.     The Startup Pitching sessions would commence at 9.30 am on 30th September, 2022 for the students of colleges and entrepreneurs wherein they shall be provided a platform to pitch their ideas and innovative products and the best ideas/presentations would be shortlisted to participate in the upcoming Startup Mela which includes attractive cash prizes.

Port Blair, Sept. 28: Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), a flagship scheme of the Government of India has successfully completed 4 years of its implementation on 23rd September, 2022. The scheme aims to provide cashless treatment worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year against secondary and tertiary hospitalization care. Presently, 12,638 families (40,137 members) have registered under the AB-PMJAY scheme in this UT and are entitled for cashless treatment at more than 28,000 empanelled public and private hospitals across the country.

Port Blair, Sept. 28: 5 COVID positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 11 flights with 1825 passengers arrived, out of which, 1615 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 180 passengers and the reports are awaited.
