Port Blair, July 6: A delegation of CITU comprising R. Surendran Pillai, President, D. Ayyappan, Vice President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary of CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee met the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Forest Department today (6th July, 2023) and discussed with him various issues relating to the workers of the Forest Department.

Baratang, July 6: As part of the observance of 74th Van Mahotsav, a ceremonial tree planting programme was organized by the Baratang Forest Division in the premises of St. Anne’s School, Sundergarh, Baratang yesterday. Shri P.K.Paul, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Baratang addressed the students and highlighted the importance of Van Mahotsava. He urged the students to become ambassadors for protecting environment by planting and protecting the seedlings. The Head Mistress of the school expressed her happiness as the school was selected for such a noble cause.

Port Blair, July 6: As part of the celebration of World Zoonoses Day, a Symposium on the theme ‘Preparedness for future epidemic/pandemic lessons learned from COVID-19’ was conducted by RMRC, Port Blair in association with DHS and Dept of AH&VS, A&N Administration today in the auditorium of RMRC. The symposium witnessed participation of Doctors from DHS, AH&VS, ANIIMS, Staff of E&F, CIARI and RMRC, Port Blair and faculty from JNRM Port Blair besides representatives from UNDP, India through online and offline modes.

Campbell bay, July 6: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration in coordination with District Administration, Nicobar, Indian Coast Guard (A&N) and 4 Bn, National Disaster Response Force organized a 12 days Disaster Management Training from June 22 to July 6, 2023 at Community Hall, Campbell Bay for Community Volunteers (Aapda Mitras) of Great Nicobar under Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme. The scheme aims to train 300 Community Volunteers (Aapda Mitras) in A&N Islands.
