Port Blair, Feb 27: Highlighting some genuine problems being faced by the common man, general public, unemployed registered societies, and SSI units in Andaman & Nicobar Islands due to the high cost of quarry materials, the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to resolve the problem.

In a letter he mentioned that prior to 2019, stone quarry materials were available locally at nominal rates. General public and construction units used to purchase it from local stone material vendors who were allowed to extract it at different slots in terms of permission granted by the Administration, on payment of royalty imposed on it.

Port Blair, Feb 27: The Science Centre, Port Blair will be celebrating the National Science Day tomorrow (Feb. 28). The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’. The Science Week celebration which began on Feb.22 will culminate with a valedictory function to be held on Feb.28 at 3 pm in the auditorium of Science Centre. Shri Aman Gupta, IAS, Secretary, Science & Technology, A&N Administration will grace the valedictory function as the chief guest and distribute prizes to the winners of various competition organized as part of the observance.

Port Blair, Feb 27: A three days training programme for Master Trainers in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) in two phases from Feb.20 to 22 and from Feb. 23 to 25 was organized by the State Institute of Education in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha at GSS Junglighat, Port Blair as part of ‘Nipun Bharat Mission’. Inaugurating the training programme, Shri R.K Singh, Principal State Institute of Education (SIE) and State Project Officer, Samagra Shiksha highlighted the importance of literary and numeracy at the foundational years and stressed on developing play based, toy based pedagogies to achieve the desired learning outcomes. He called upon the Master trainers to develop the necessary skills and capacities, to accompany the teachers teaching kids at the foundational stage and develop the competencies essential for achieving the desired learning outcomes.
