Car Nicobar, Nov. 16: The Season-V of Dr. B. Srikanth Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament was inaugurated yesterday by Chief Guest, Shri Lionel Nicomede, Chief Tribal Council, Car Nicobar in the presence of Shri Rajeev Kumar, SP Nicobar District, Shri Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri K. Tyagi, (CADO) IAF, Car Nicobar and members of Tribal council, Car Nicobar.

Port Blair, Nov. 16: The meeting of the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DDMC/DISHA) of the South Andaman was held in the conference hall of the Zilla Parishad (SA) under the Chairmanship of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A & N Islands. Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, DC (SA), Shri Yash Chaudhary IAS, CEO, Zilla Parishad and representatives of all concerned line Departments were also present.

Port Blair, Nov. 16: The ex-Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Ms V. K. Mariyam Bibi along with Smti Rasheeda, ex Pradhan  and Shri  Narayan, ex-Up Pramukh, Ferrargunj met Shri Veriah, Deputy Director Shipping Services (DDSS) and requested him to change some of the boat service timing from Panighat to Marine for the convenience of general public.

Port Blair, Nov. 16: The Food Safety Department, A&N Islands in its efforts to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food to the general public conducted special drives during Deepawali festival. Intensive inspections have been carried out at various meat vending shops, poultry shops and other slaughtering places.

Port Blair, Nov. 15: The Government of India approved the Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) Submarine Optical Fiber Cable project with an objective to connect Chennai Cable Landing Station (CLS) with Port Blair CLS and seven Islands viz. Swaraj Dweep, Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Campbell Bay, Long Island and Rangat in September, 2016. BSNL was nominated as the Implementing Agency and M/s NEC Infrastructures India (P) Ltd was engaged as the Executing Agency for implementing the project at a total project cost of Rs 1212 Crore. The capital cost of the project is funded by USOF, DOT Government of India and the Operation and Maintenance Cost to the tune of Rs 46.8 Cr per year will be borne by A & N Administration.
