Port Blair, July 6: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,83,959 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,588 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 24,583 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 27,789.

Port Blair, July 6: During the RTPCR conducted on 132 incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday two positive cases have been detected. Today, 9 flights with 1338 passengers arrived, out of which, 1171 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 130 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, July 5: Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre of Anthropological Survey of India, Port Blair conducted a one-day seminar on “Tribal People of A&N Islands and their Role in the Freedom Struggle” on 5th July, 2022 as a part of major celebration under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. This seminar was conducted under the august presence of several dignitaries of Anthropological Survey of India with a specific focus on the Battle of Aberdeen. This Mahotsav is dedicated to such forms of struggle which has been instrumental in bringing our country to independence in 1947. The inspirational journey of such historical battle aided in the evolutionary journey and reinforces patriotism in the minds of Indians.

Port Blair, July 5: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary A&N Administration to provide a piece of land to construct 75 bedded free dormitory accommodations for male patient-attendants and 75 bedded free dormitory accommodations for female patient-attendants inside G B Pant Campus, under MPLAD fund.

Port Blair, July 5: A series of earthquakes has been reported in the Andaman Islands since yesterday. As per the latest reports from the State Emergency Operation Centre, the earthquakes continued to rock the Islands even today. The report indicates that there was an earthquake measuring MW 5.0 at 0254 Hrs in the Andaman Islands which was followed by MW 4.6 at 0445 Hrs, MW 4.9 at 1136 Hrs, MW 4.8 at 1318 Hrs and MW 5.0 at 2020 Hrs. However, the tremours were not felt on the land and no damages to lives and property has been reported.
