British Deputy High Commissioner Responds to Member of Parliament’s Request

Port Blair, Sept. 15: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament has expressed gratitude to Mr. Nicholas Low, the British Deputy High Commissioner for his positive response on providing opportunity to the Islands’ students to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom on fully funded scholarship basis. Referring to the discussion held with Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma on 07.09.2023 at Port Blair, the British Deputy High Commissioner has responded through his tweet dated 08.09.2023 stating "We want a UK Government Chevening Scholar from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in 2024.”

Port Blair, Sept. 15: The achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 requires village level action, through Localizing Sustainable Development Goal (LSDG) as a multi-ministerial initiative of Government of India. The LSDG involves, ‘Healthy Village’ being one of the initiatives and core component of the Panchayat Development.

Port Blair, Sept. 15: The Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India has introduced e-HRMS for providing end-to-end online services to both Employee and Employer and to enhance speed, accuracy and transparency in matters related to delivery of service to the employee such as sanction of Leave, Advances etc.   The A & N Administration proposes to implement, e-HRMS in the Departments under Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

Port Blair, Sept. 15: On the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching a new scheme named "PM Vishwakarma Scheme" on 17th September 2023 at around 11 AM at India International Convention and Expo Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi.

PM Vishwakarma will be fully funded by the Union Government with an outlay of Rs 13,000 crore. Under the scheme, the Vishwakarmas will be registered free of charge through Common Services Centres using biometric based PM Vishwakarma portal. They will be provided recognition through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, skill upgradation involving basic and advanced training, toolkit incentive of ₹15,000, collateral-free credit support up to ₹1 lakh (first tranche) and ₹2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentive for digital transactions and marketing support.

Port Blair, Sept. 15: RED RUN, a State Level Marathon of 5 Kms was conducted by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) from Netaji Subash Chandra Boss Stadium to Mazaar Pahad and back on 15th September 2023 (Friday). The marathon was organized for the awareness on HIV/AIDS among the youth.  Participants were from Colleges and Youth Clubs.

Ms. Deborah Herold, Indian cyclist from A & N Islands who represented India and won many medals in various National and International Level Competition was the Chief Guest. She motivated the participants and flagged off the Marathon.
