Port Blair, May 2: All concerned, tourism stakeholders, boat operators have been informed that due to administrative reason, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island shall be closed from 2 pm on May 3, 2024 for the tourists and general public.

The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has mourned the sad demise of Smt.Radha Rani Nag, aged 93 years, mother of Shri. NN Nag, ex- Zilla Parishad Member, who left for heavenly abode on 02.05.2024.

In this hour of sorrow, the Member of Parliament extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the noble soul.

Port Blair, May 1: The Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to install 5 MW Electric Power Capacity DG Set at Sitanagar, Diglipur Power House.

In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Kalpong Hydro Electric Power Project, which serves as the primary source of electricity for the region, faces significant challenges during the dry season (February to July) due to low water levels. This results in an insufficient supply of electricity to meet the needs of the local community, leading to frequent power outages and damage to electronic equipment.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of BJP and Former State President of BJP, expresses deep sorrow at the passing of Shri Niranjan Lal, aged 86 years, S/o Late Baijnath R/o Bathu Basti, who departed for the heavenly abode yesterday on 01-05-2024.

Mr. Jolly further extends heartfelt condolences and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also prays the Almighty to give strength to his bereaved family member to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, May 1: May Day was celebrated all over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands jointly by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions today (1.5.2024) by organizing various programmes.  

The main programme was held at Port Blair. The May Day Rally was taken out from Delanipur junction, which, after making a round of the important points of Port Blair town culminated in a public meeting at Tiranga Park. Hundreds of workers participated in the May Day Rally at Port Blair. May Day Rally was led by R. Surendran Pillai, B. Chandrachoodan, D. Ayyappan, M. Boominathan, Anand Rajan, M. Yugandar among others.  Members of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers Association also joined the procession.
