Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi is offering a dual degree programme from July 2022 cycle that will allow a student pursuing a degree from any other varsity to study a degree at IGNOU online or in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

Port Blair, Sept. 6: On the eve of Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Port Blair has celebrated Teacher’s Day on 05th September, 2022, at its premises. On this occasion, the chief guest, Dr. H.K.Sharma, Principal, JNRM College, Port Blair has delivered the special lecture about the role of Teachers in everyday life. The students and staff of Regional Centre were attended the programme. Dr. RVR Murthy, Regional Director, RC-PB presided over the programme.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: As part of ‘Clean Coast, Safe Sea Campaign’ launched by GoI, the Tourism Department conducted underwater beach clean-up drive today at Nemo Reef, Swaraj Dweep, a preferred tourist destination for scuba diving frequented by a good number of national and international tourists.     

Port Blair, Sept. 6: Poshan Abhiyaan launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in the year 2018 aims to achieve improvement in the status of nutrition of both children and women. Involvement of people in bringing behavioural change and inculcating a balanced diet habit through Jan Andolan and Community Mobilization are the two most important pillars to achieve this goal. Poshan Maah aspires to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, low-birth weight, and anemia. Every year, the month of September is celebrated as POSHAN Maah across the Island. The theme for current year celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah is to activate Poshan Panchayat- making the Sarpanch and the Gram Panchayat at the village level as the fulcrum of activities, thus converting ‘Jan Andolan’ into ‘Jan Bhaigidari’.
