Port Blair Sept. 5: Together with the rest of the country, Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout these Islands today, to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the 2nd President of India. To celebrate the occasion, a state level function was organized by the Directorate of Education, in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) here this evening. The Commissioner–cum-Secretary (Education), A&N Administration, Shri Nikhil Kumar was the chief guest of the function. At the outset, the chief guest garlanded the portrait of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and was followed by floral tributes by others.

Sita Nagar, Sept 5: Along with the Nation, the Teachers’ day was celebrated at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sita Nagar, Diglipur. On this occasion the Principal- Incharge Shri S. Santosh Kumar felicitated five teachers Smti R. Bindu, Shri L.Elaya Raja, Smti Hina Naaz, Smti Kiran Kumari, Smti Neera Kumari  and Multi task Staff Shri Kayen Toppo for their exceptional dedication, commitment towards duty and tireless efforts in the teaching-learning process during the academic session.

Port Blair, Sept. 5: The Government of India launched a landmark scheme One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) to facilitate migrants meeting their requirement of foodgrains at a very affordable rate. This scheme was implemented by the Central Government in a war footing manner in the wake of pandemic COVID-19 to avoid struggle of the socio-economically weaker migrant labourers to meet both ends of their livelihoods. This UT Administration has taken relentless efforts, leaving no stone unturned to implement this scheme within the established time frame by the Central Government and made functional with effect from February 2021.
