Port Blair, Sept. 5: The Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration is extending support to the fishers and interested entrepreneurs for development of post-harvest infrastructures in the form of Cold Chains for reduction of post-harvest losses by creating processing, storage, value addition, packaging and transport facilities for fish and fisheries products under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). Fish being a perishable commodity, the Department has prioritized the establishment of adequate ice production and cold storage facilities for enhancing the trading and export of seafood from these Islands. The aim of developing such facilities in private sector by extending financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana is to increase the participation of traditional fisherman community in the fisheries business as well as for ensuring adequate supply/ availability of ice in affordable rates for the fisherman community.

Port Blair, Sept. 5: The Government of India launched a landmark scheme One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) to facilitate migrants meeting their requirement of foodgrains at a very affordable rate. This scheme was implemented by the Central Government in a war footing manner in the wake of pandemic COVID-19 to avoid struggle of the socio-economically weaker migrant labourers to meet both ends of their livelihoods. This UT Administration has taken relentless efforts, leaving no stone unturned to implement this scheme within the established time frame by the Central Government and made functional with effect from February 2021.

Port Blair, Sept 5:  Chinmaya Mission Port Blair is organizing a week long Shrimad Bhagwat Saptah (KATHA) from September 10 to September 17, 2022 at Mission Auditorium. On the first day of Bhagwat Saptah kalash yatra will be taken out from Gandhi Park to Chinmaya Mission on 10th September 2022 at 4 pm. Every day Katha will be held from 4.30 pm to  8 pm. Around 40 delegates from mainland are also attending the programme. Mission has invited all the people for katha.
