Port Blair, June 16: The CRC-A&N Islands under the administrative control of National Institute of Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Divyangjan), Govt. of India has initiated Free Coaching Scheme for PwMDs at CRC, Brookshabad.

The objective of the scheme is to provide coaching to economically disadvantaged students with disabilities, having minimum 40% or more disability and having a total family income from all sources of Rs.8 lakhs or less per annum will be eligible to apply under this scheme and also to enable them to appear in competitive examinations conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs),Banking/Insurance/PSU/CLAT to succeed in obtaining an appropriate job in Government/Public/Private sector.

Port Blair, June 16: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced admission/re-registration to its academic programmes offered through open and Distance learning (ODL) online mode for the academic session commencing in July 2024. The university offers intensive Masters degree programmes, Bachelors degree programme, PG diploma, Diploma and certificate programmes in various subjects. The application for admission /re-registration should be submitted online at https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in by 30th June, 2024.

Port Blair, June 14: In what can be called as ‘Thinking out of the box’, an exclusive book and a YouTube Channel on Andaman’s cuisines titled ‘Flavours of Andaman’ was released and launched today by Dr. Rashida Iqbal, Former Curator, National Memorial Cellular Jail. The brain behind this innovative thought to showcase Andaman through its local cuisines (flavours) is Chef Ashwar Pal Singh, a local lad, who is also the CEO of an Event Management Company called 4 Seasons.

Port Blair, June 13:  The National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), by Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under Directorate of Social Welfare, organized a successful drug abuse and alcoholism awareness cum cultural program at Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium on June 12, 2024. The event was made possible through collaboration with NGOs (Ration Rasheed, Hope Foundation, Maa Foundation, and Pankh Andaman), and centered around the empowering theme of 'women empowerment'.

Port Blair, June 14: The Andaman & Nicobar Police Department proudly announces the promotion of Shri Solomon Samuel to the esteemed position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). This significant achievement marks a historic moment as Shri Solomon Samuel becomes the first DySP of A&N Police from the Nicobari tribal community to assume this role.

The promotion was issued by MHA, UT Division, GOI on 12/06/2024 and at Police Headquarters (PHQ) Director General of Police (DGP), Sh Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, along with other senior officers of A&N Police commended Sh Solomon Samuel for his exemplary service and dedication to duty for achieving this milestone.
