Team A&N Wins 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze

Port Blair, Nov. 14: The participants from A & N Islands has brought laurels with their outstanding performance in the recently concluded 37th National Games-2023 hosted by Goa. The Island team won eight medals which includes three Gold, four Silver and one Bronze in the events they participated.

In cycling, David Beckham secured two Golds and a Silver in individual events. He secured Gold in the 1000 Mtr. Individual Time Trial clocking 01:02:197 at a speed of 57.88 Km/h and Gold in Men Keirin event. In individual sprint, David Beckham secured a Silver. The trio of Gaurav Mondal-Paul Collingwood-David Beckham secured Silver medal in the Men’s Team Sprint. In 500 Mtr Individual Time Trial, Celestina secured Silver Medal clocking 36.698 at a speed of 49.05 Km/h. Women’s team comprising of Deborah-Nikita-Celestina grabbed Bronze Medal in the Women’s team sprint. Altogether, the Cycling team of A &N Islands secured 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze medal.

Campbell Bay, Nov. 14: On completion of his 6-day tour to Great Nicobar Island, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee returned to Port Blair on 13th November, 2023 afternoon. During his tour, along with S. Surender, CPI (M) leader and a permanent native of Laxmi Nagar, Great Nicobar, he visited various villages in Great Nicobar, met a number of party sypathisers, farmers, etc. and heard their grievances. It was brought to the notice of the CPI (M) State Secretary that there is an urgent need to establish an ITI at Campbell Bay for the benefit of youth. It was brought to the notice of the CPI (M) State Secretary that at present, no vocational training centre is functioning at Great Nicobar Island. 

Port Blair, Nov. 14: The 42nd Edition of India International Trade Fair has come alive on November 14, 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, marking the commencement of a two week-long extravaganza, showcasing the best of global trade and commerce on the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- United by Trade’ which emphasizes Global Unity through Commerce. Port Blair, Nov. 14:  Living On The Edge - LOTE, a leading local NGO, expresses profound gratitude to the A & N Administration and the Central Government of India for the recent extension of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) to the pensioners under the A & N Administration. This welcome development follows the earnest request made by Shri. Abhay Kumar, President of Living On The Edge - LOTE, during his meeting with the Chief Secretary Shri. Keshav Chandra, IAS, of the A & N Islands on 01st September 2023, as conveyed through LOTE's Letter no. LOTE/AN/ADMN/23/07 dated 01/09/2023.

Port Blair, Nov. 14: Port Blair city witnessed 02 major Fire incidents on 12.11.2023.  The First incident occurred at Phoenix Bay storage godown at 1902 hrs. involving blast of Acetylene, Ferron, and LPG Cylinders, which rapidly spread to the adjacent wooden structure dwelling house.

07 Fire tenders, 01 Bouser and 01 Foam Tender from Fire Station Aberdeen, Chatham, Marine, Haddo Wharf, and Garacharma were promptly rushed to the spot and pressed into service to douse the flames.
