Port Blair, Nov. 2: As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week-2023, IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair has organized talk on the topic “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation”.  On this occasion the Chief Guest Col Aravind Varma, IPoS, Post Master General, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has delivered a lecture.

Port Blair, Nov. 2: The 36th National U-09 (Boys and Girls) Chess Championships 2023 began this morning (02/11/2023) at Wave International, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

Around 360 players all over the India are participating in the championship in which three young chess players from A & N Islands viz. Shrihaan Karmakar of KV 2, Pranjal Sana and G Disha Meenakshi of KV 1 are participating.

Port Blair, Nov. 2: The Island Tourism Festival is scheduled to be held from 26th December to 30th December, 2023. The Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration in collaboration with the Department of IP&T will be organizing cultural programs in different venues in and around Port Blair as well as in inter-island locations at South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman district during the festival days viz. Marina Park, Corbyn's Cove, Amphitheater, Wandoor, Wimberlygunj, Ferrargunj, Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, Diglipur, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Long Island and Little Andaman / Hut Bay.

Port Blair, Nov. 2: The Department of Fisheries organized a Brainstorming Workshop for Fisheries Cooperatives at Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill, Port Blair today by involving officials and experts from ICAR-CIARI, RCS Department, A&N State Coop Bank, ANCOFED etc. The Secretary (Fisheries), A&N Administration, Shri Vishwendra expressed his happiness in the conduct of this unique Brainstorming Workshop and requested all the participants to make best use of this opportunity in reviving their Fisheries Cooperatives and assured them of all the technical and financial assistance from the Department of Fisheries. He also emphasized on the need for pooling fishermen in groups for taking up major fisheries projects in private sector and urged the members of the cooperatives for induction of educated youths for the upliftment of their fisheries cooperatives.
