Port Blair, Nov. 2: The State Child Protection Society, under the Directorate of Social Welfare is organizing educational visits for the children of Child Care Institutions to various Departments of A & N Administration. As part of this, a visit was organized for the children of Love Children Home, Manglutan to Anthropological Survey of India, Port Blair on Oct.28. 

Around 60 children from Love Children Home and 2 staff from Social Welfare Department visited the museum. Shri Kanike Veerashekar, Research Associate (Cultural), Anthropological Survey of India, explained about Zonal Anthropological Museum established in 2002 by the Anthropological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre in Port Blair. The museum stands as a testament to the rich cultural diversity and heritage of A&N Islands. It houses an extensive collection of exhibits that highlights the cultural heritage of the six indigenous tribes- Jarawa, Great Andamanese, Sentinelese, Onge, Nicobarese and Shompen as well as settlers like Karen, Ranchiwala, Moplah etc. These exhibits include ethnographic materials, photographs, artifacts, tools, and handicrafts created by the communities.

It is brought to the notice of the general consumers and government departments that power supply will remain suspended at the following area on 04.11.2023 (Saturday) from 0730 Hrs. to 1230 Hrs. in connection with urgent breakdown maintenance of Air Breakers Switch (ABS) of Supply Line feeder at Phoenix Bay Power House structure.

Port Blair, Nov. 1: An impressive ceremonial parade was organized by the Andaman & Nicobar Police on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National unity Day) in order to Commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The contingents of A&N Police comprising of 01 Platoon each of Executive Police Gents & Ladies, IRBn, Fire Service, Police Brass and Pipe Bands and a contingent from NDRF led by parade commander Ms. Yogita Sharma, DANIPS, Dy. Superintendent of Police (APU), marched impressively from Dharmshala Junction to Flag Point and returned to Girls School which captivated the spectators. Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, took salute on the occasion.

Port Blair, Nov. 1: On the occasion of Foundation Day of Ladakh, a 6-member delegation comprising of students from Schools & Colleges from UT of Ladakh led by Ms. Rinchen Dolkar called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas. The delegation is in the Islands to showcase their rich cultural heritage on the occasion of Foundation Day of Ladakh today as part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’/Ladakh to Nicobar- National Integration initiative.

Port Blair, Nov. 1: It has come to the notice of the Health Department that a fake Merit List of ANM is being circulated on social media (WhatsApp) which is misleading and has led to confusion among the aspiring candidates.
