Port Blair, Sept. 2: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands express gratitude towards Joint Secretary(UT), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India and Andaman Nicobar Administration for their timely intervention to grant promotion in DANICS Cadre to three officials from the feeder cadre of A & N Islands issued vide Order No. 14016/13/2023-UTS-II dated 29th August, 2024. It is also heartening that 01 official from the Nicobari Community was also granted promotion to the DANICS cadre in this order. This is a long pending demand by the employees in the feeder cadre as during the last 20 years, no officer from this cadre under A & N Administration has been inducted into DANICS Entry Grade while all the posts of DANICS Entry Grade are filled up by officers from Delhi.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: On Sunday, 1st of September, the Andaman Avians Club, in collaboration with friends and family, successfully organized its fourth consecutive Andaman Birding Marathon.

This unique event, a first of its kind in the islands, involves club members embarking on a 12-hour bird-watching expedition across all Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in the region.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: It's indeed a proud moment for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as seven more chess players from the islands viz. ACM Darshan, T Sathiya Moorthy, P Anand Rao, B Lalith, ACM Tanisha Raj, G Disha Meenakshi, and K Venkatesh have achieved their international chess ratings, as per the latest International Rating list published on 31st August 2024 by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

Rangat, Sept. 2: In a rapid and effective operation, PS Rangat successfully intercepted an illegal drug transaction based on reliable intelligence. Under the leadership of Shri Rahul L. Nair, IPS SDPO Rangat, a specialized team was promptly assembled. The team, led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Rangat including SI Abdul Sajeed, PCs K. Samir, Yashwant Rao and Sumitra Halder, along with two independent witnesses, moved swiftly to act on the information received.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: The World Beach Day was celebrated by INTACH A&N Chapter with support from ANET and Dakshin Foundation and in association with Coastal Green Zone. A total of 39 boys and girls from different villages in Wandoor participated in the celebration.

The day started with a presentation by Shri. Anand Rao from ANET who explained the significance of beaches to the children. Meera from Dakshin Foundation gave an orientation to the children about the beach ecosystem while Coastal Green Zone helped the children enact a role play where the children were divided into three groups to represent waves, beaches and trees and buildings. The role play explained beautifully how the beaches protect us and why it is important to save our beaches.
