Port Blair, Dec. 5: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute observed “World Soil Day” befittingly on 05.12.2022. at Chouldari Gram Panchayat, Govindpur and Perka village of Nicobar. The campaigns were conducted with the theme “Soils: where food begins” to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human wellbeing by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, increasing soil awareness and encouraging societies to improve soil health.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: On 25.11.2022, a FIR was registered at PS Humfreygunj on finding the dead body of a deceased new born baby from the creek of Sippighat near SAI Boat House area. Since then, no family members/ relatives have come forward to claim the body. The body of the deceased new born has been preserved at cold mortuary of GB Pant Hospital. The family members of the aforesaid baby are hereby requested to approach PS Humfrygunj and take over the deceased body from GB Pant Hospital.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: A selection trial for selecting paddlers for participation in the 33rd Junior & Sub-Junior National Canoe Championship to be held at Bhopal, (MP) from Dec.18 to 21 will be organized by Andaman & Nicobar Kayaking & Canoeing Association at Water Sports Complex, Sippighat on Dec.10, 2022 at 6 am.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: The Department of Agriculture in association with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) celebrated ‘World Soil Day, 2022’ on the theme ‘Soils: Where Food Begins’ at Namunaghar Gram Panchayat today. Shri Y.Yenketeswar, Pradhan, Namunaghar Gram Panchayat was the chief guest on the occasion while Shri Mohammed Safiq, Pradhan, Mithakhari Gram Panchayat was the guest of honour. PRIs members and villagers of Namunaghar attended the programme.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: On the occasion of ‘National Pollution Control Day’, Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), Department of Science and Technology, A&N Administration organized a mass stickering programme with a message ‘Walk More; Drive Smart’ to reduce the air pollution caused due to the emission from vehicles.
