Port Blair, Oct. 9: On 06/10/2022, a person namely Baburaj (55yrs) old had committed suicide by hanging at Brichgunj Brookshabad. In this regard, an UDFIR No. 49/2022 dtd 06/10/2022, U/s 174 CrPC has been registered at PS Pahargaon and the case is being investigated. During the course of investigation, neither any details of deceased person is revealed out nor any family members are traced out. The dead body of the old age person is preserved for identification and claim in the cold Mortuary room of GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair. Description of the deceased body is as follows:

Port Blair, Oct. 7: As a part of the ongoing 68th Wildlife Week Celebration to enhance the coral growth in degraded patches of Phongibalu area and to facilitate eco-tourism activities therein, an artificial reef module was installed by the Department of Environment & Forests. Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration installed the reef module as the chief guest of the function by tying fragmented corals. Ms Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Environment & Forests), the guest of honour also tied coral fragments and the structure was installed in the designated place by the Scuba Diving Unit of the Forest Department.

Port Blair, Oct. 7: The General Body meeting of the Marine Works Employees 'Union (MWEU) of Government Dockyard affiliated to Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) was held at 9 AM on 07.10.2022 in the Labour Welfare Centre of Directorate of Shipping Services under the Chairmanship of Member of Parliament Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President INTUC (A&N Islands) and MWEU.

Port Blair, Oct. 7: In fight against bootlegging, illicit liquor and drug abuse, Andaman and Nicobar Police has adopted multi-pronged strategy coupled with zero tolerance against this menace. On supply front, Police is cracking the whips against bootleggers and drug peddlers. On demand side, mass public awareness campaign has been launched to spread awareness about ill-effects of alcohol/drug abuse.
