Port Blair, April 16: The District Legal Services Authority, A&N Islands organized a Legal Awareness Camp at Manpur, village Panchayat Hall, South Andaman today on the topic ‘Domestic Violence Act, 498A IPC, Family Disputes and Offense under different Acts against women’ and POCSO Act with the active participation of the local PRI members and villagers. Approximately, 50 people attended the camp. The Legal Awareness Camp was graced by Shri. Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, A&N Islands alongwith Shri. Debarghya Biswas, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate, South Andaman-cum-Secretary, DLSA, A&N Islands, Shri. Sumit Kumar Karmakar, Ld. Public Prosecutor and Ms. A S. Zinu, Ld. Public Prosecutor.

Port Blair, April 16: This is for the information of tourists and tourism service providers that the launching date of “eTicketing for visiting Cellular Jail Museums” is postponed due to technical reasons. The date of implementation will be intimated shortly. Meanwhile the existing system of manual tickets will continue.

Port Blair, April 14: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor to construct Dam/Weir on Nimbu Bagicha, North Bay nallah to solve the water crisis issue of the region.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that at Nimbu Bagicha, North Bay there is a nallah having a perennial flow and the water from the nallah flows into the sea throughout the year without any effective use. 

Port Blair, April 16: The Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs currently on visit to these islands, paid rich tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his 132nd Birth Anniversary yesterday. The Chairman of the Committee, Shri Brijlal paid floral tributes at the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar near the main entrance of Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium, PBMC. This was followed by paying of tributes by other members of the Committee viz. Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, Dr. Anil Jain, Shri Vishnu Dayal Ram, Shri Rakesh Sinha, Dr. Satya Pal Singh and Shri Dilip Ghosh.

Limited classrooms pose challenge to school to admit new students: Pradhan

Diglipur, April 14: The only English Medium Science Senior Secondary School of the region is helpless in the new Academic session in admitting new students to class 6th, who are coming from different parts of North Andaman, after completing their primary Education at their native villages. The parents are exerting pressure on the school from every possible resource to get their children admitted but the school authorities express their inability. The disappointed parent told media that the school authorities are saying that the admissions have already reached the maximum capacity and they have no more room left to accommodate more students now onwards.
