Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: Together with the rest of the World, the World Tourism Day -2024 will be celebrated tomorrow (Sept. 27) with befitting programmes by the Tourism Department, A&N Administration in these Islands too. The theme for this year's celebration is 'Tourism & Peace’. The Tourism Department along with the line Departments of A & N Administration, India Tourism, GoI and Tourism Stakeholders is celebrating ‘World Tourism Day’ by conducting various programmes.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: As part of ‘World Tourism Day’ Celebration, a one-day State Level Seminar on the topic ‘Tourism and Peace’ was organized in JNRM today. The seminar was coordinated by the Department of BBA Tourism, JNRM in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration and Ministry of Tourism, GoI. The seminar was inaugurated by the Secretary(Tourism), Shri Vishwendra, as the chief guest.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: In a decisive move to safeguard government land from unlawful encroachments, the District Administration, South Andaman has taken strict action in Brookshabad village under Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil.
A fresh encroachment attempt was made by way of construction of a semi-RCC structure on a portion of government land. In response, revenue officials swiftly intervened to prevent any further unauthorized development and maintain the status quo of the area. The semi-RCC structure has been sealed to safeguard public property and put an immediate stop to the ongoing illegal activity on the site.

Kalighat, Sept. 26: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 24/09/2024 against illegal liquor activities, the Kalighat Police team conducted a jungle search in the dense forest area of Srinagar near the residence of Amenta Dakua.
Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat formed a specialized team consisting of SI M.J Indrajit, I/c OP Kishorinagar, PCs Ripon Mistry, Mary and Irenious. During the search, the team discovered a concealed location being used for brewing illicit liquor. The team recovered 60 litres of Lehan and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were clandestinely hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.
