Swaraj Dweep, Nov. 4: In a commendable effort to promote sports among youth and guide them away from negative influences, the District Administration, South Andaman under the guidance of Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) organized the DC Cup Chess Tournament 2024. Held exclusively for young players of Swaraj Dweep at Hotel Dolphin Resort, this first-of-its-kind event provided Under-11 and Under-19 boys and girls, a unique platform to showcase their chess skills and sportsmanship.

Nimbudera, Nov. 4: A three-day training program on “Organic Tuber Crops Cultivation and Value Addition for Sustainability” was organized by ICAR-KVK, North & Middle Andaman, in collaboration with AICRP-Tuber Crops, CIARI, Sri Vijayapuram, from October 21st to 23rd, 2024, at Shantipur Community Hall, Swadesh Nagar Gram Panchayat. The event was inaugurated by Shri Debbrata Das, Pradhan of Swadesh Nagar Gram Panchayat, in the presence of Up-Pradhan Shri Anil Baroi.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 4: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri Rangalal Halder, has formally requested the Director of Agriculture to resume the issuance of Soil Health Cards for farmers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In his appeal, Halder expressed the pressing need for Soil Health Cards, which previously played a critical role in assisting farmers by providing essential information on soil quality and nutrient composition. These cards allowed farmers to make informed decisions on fertilizer and pesticide application, improving both crop yield and soil fertility.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 4: Along with the Countries on the Indian Ocean Rim, other Regional Tsunami Advisories Services providers, INCOIS, Hyderabad, the Union Territory of A&N Islands will be participating in the National Tsunami Mock Exercise tomorrow (Nov.5) coinciding with World Tsunami Awareness Day by Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC), Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, Hyderabad and other Service Providers of Indian Ocean Countries with the objective to validate the warning centre dissemination process for issuing Tsunami Bulletins, procedures of Agencies receiving and confirming Tsunami Bulletins, process of dissemination of Bulletins/Messages by the SEOC, EOCs and other Control Rooms to other responsible Agencies within their area or to the public, decision making process about public warnings and evacuations and proper communication method.
