Port Blair, March 2: A three days training programme on ‘Open Sea Cage Culture of Finfishes’ jointly organized by the Department of Fisheries and ACOSTI-NIOT was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, in the Conference hall of NIOT at Dollygunj today.

Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Secretary emphasized on the transfer of technology developed by the research institutes in Fisheries sector to the Fisher community for improving the existing fishing techniques and to enhance individual economic growth.

Port Blair, March 2: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri. Rangalal Halder today sought the intervention of the Administration in resolving the difficulties being faced by the inpatients in the GB Pant Hospital.

In his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri. Halder said that the patients' Ward in GB Pant Hospital are being inappropriately maintained as deteriorated conditions and unhealthy hygiene have been observed in several wards during the visit.

Port Blair, March 2: Coast Guard Component of Andaman and Nicobar Command conducted an IMO Level-I course from 20 to 24 Feb 23 for various stakeholders responsible for pollution response operations in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The training course was conducted in line with the guidelines of the OPRC Convention 1990, to which India is a signatory. Andaman and Nicobar Command, recognizes that any oil spill in the seas around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands would have severe environmental impact on the marine ecosystem and may adversely affect dependent economic and tourism activities.

Car Nicobar, March 2: The ICDS (Tribal Project) Car Nicobar has launched Poshan Pakhwada under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ from March 1 to 16, 2023. The Deputy Commissioner, Car Nicobar, Shri Hari Kalikkat, IAS flagged off the POSHAN Rally on the theme ‘Raise awareness to improve the nutritional index of women and children with introducing millets’ in the presence of AC (HQ). The POSHAN Rally which began form DC Office culminated at Kuchat Park. The CDPO, Smti Sunita Kumari while speaking, highlighted the importance of POSHAN for the benefit of new born child and pregnant women. She also highlighted about Kitchen garden and the importance of local fresh vegetables & food which are cheap & easily available.
