Port Blair, Jan. 20:  Under the provisions of Rule 4.3 (a) 7 (e) of the Excise Policy & 9 (iv) of the bar guidelines issued by the Administration vide order No. 4192 dated 18/11/2008 respectively, the Competent Authority has ordered that ‘Dry Day’ will be observed on Jan.22 throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in connection with ‘Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya’. 

Port Blair, Jan. 20: In view of closure of the Pondicherry University for half day till 2.30 pm on Jan. 22, 2024, all the examinations scheduled to be held on Jan.22, 2024 for UG / PG (All Branches) have been postponed and re-scheduled, a circular to this effect issued by Pondicherry University said.

Bangkok, Jan. 19: The Department of Fisheries and Department of Tourism, A&N Administration in association with the Indian Embassy, Bangkok organized an Investment Seminar on Fisheries and Tourism Sectors at Bangkok today. The seminar started with welcome address by H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Kingdom of Thailand.

This was followed by Respected Shri Keshav Chandra, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration’s address to the gathering. He emphasized on the resources, opportunity and scope for expanding the Fisheries and Tourism Sectors in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He pointed out that Internet connection upgradation in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, may support in building the infrastructure in these sector. He invited investors in Deep Sea Tuna Fishing, Processing, and other related field for the Fisheries Sector considering the vast untapped potential.

Port Blair, Jan 19: On 19.01.2024, the Andaman and Nicobar Police takes a significant and monumental advancement in strengthening its law enforcement infrastructure with the inauguration of two ground breaking Police Stations: "Cyber Crime Police Station" and "Anti-Narcotics Police Station". The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency.

One prominent issue among others was the request for installation of the statue of Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar in a prominent place in Port Blair

During the meeting with the Hon’ble Lt. Governor the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Tamil Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar, whose teachings are encapsulated in 1330 couplets known as "Thirukkural," holds universal significance in the messages conveyed.
