Port Blair, Feb 16: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration to post an additional Staff Nurse at the Blood Bank of G B Pant Hospital to ensure uninterrupted and efficient service delivery.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has received reports from General Public that the Blood Bank unit at G.B. Pant Hospital is facing certain challenges due to understaffing. As per information received from patients, currently, the Blood Bank unit at G.B. Pant Hospital operates with only one staff nurse, leading to difficulties for the general public who wish to donate blood and avail other related services.

Port Blair, Feb 16: The third "Samir Acharya Memorial Award function for Conservation of Coastal and Island Ecosystems" was organised today at Bageecha – an Andaman Chronicle initiative, by the family of Late Samir Acharya. This year the award was bagged by Ms. Garima Poonia who runs an NGO in the name of Kachrewale.  

The award was presented by Smti. Geetanjali Acharya to Ms. Garima Poonia in the presence of Shri. Farookh Alam, Shri. Meherzaad, Smti. Susan and Smti. Pushpanjali Raju.

Port Blair, Feb 16: Andaman & Nicobar Police and IITM Collaborate to Enhance Tourist Police Proficiency. In a concerted effort to bolster the capabilities and sensitivity of Tourist Police Personnel, the Andaman & Nicobar Police, under the esteemed guidance of Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, collaborated with the Indian Institute of Tourism Management, Bhubneswar, Odisha, to conduct a comprehensive Training-Cum-Sensitization Programme from February 10th to February 16th, 2024.

Port Blair, Feb 16: In support of the nation-wide industrial strike and Gramin Bandh by workers and farmers against the anti-worker and anti-farmer policies of the central government and also to demand regularization of services of Daily Rated Mazdoors working under the A & N Administration, the CITU has organised mass processions and public meetings across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands today (16th February, 2024).

Port Blair, Feb 16: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee under the leadership of its President Shri. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker launched a one day Karyakarta Sammelan programme in Baratang.

The programme was organized to mobilize the cadres on ways to campaign for the party and reach out to every household. The Sammelan was attended by all active workers of the party.
