Port Blair, Feb. 10: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with IRCA (SA) & Health Department organized awareness programme on ‘Ill Effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’ under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ campaign. The prime objective of the campaign was to educate the people of A&N Islands about the trap/hurdles/family dislocations/depressions etc. caused due to the abuse of alcohol and other narcotics substances.

Port Blair, Feb. 10: In terms of the provisions contained under Section 135C of the Representation of the People Act 1951, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District has ordered that 27/02/2023 (Monday) (Date of Poll) and 28/02/2023 (Tuesday) (Date of Counting) will be observed as ‘Dry Days’ in connection with the ensuing Bye-Election for the Gram Panchayat ward member of constituency of Hutbay-11 of Gram Panchayat Hutbay under Little Andaman Tehsil.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has condoled the sad demise of Shri K. L. Manikandan, Physical Education Teacher of GSSS Mannarghat, R/o Mazhar Phad South Point who expired today in a tragic road accident. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty to give peace to his eternal soul departed for heavenly abode and give strength to his bereaved family member to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, Feb 9: To strengthen the Disaster Preparedness of Union Territory of A&N Islands, a State Level Mock Disaster Management Exercise (TATPAR-2023) was conducted today throughout the Islands. During the entire exercise, the operational efficacy of the UT Administration was tested. As soon as the INCOIS messages of Tsunami was triggered, the State Emergency Operation Centre, Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration was activated and started sending bulletins about the possible occurrence of Tsunami to all the Emergency Operation Centres (EOCs), Control Rooms and all members of Incident Response Teams (IRTs) spread over A&N Islands.
