I am glad to learn that "National Press Day" is being observed on 16th November, 2023 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with the rest of the country. This was the day on which Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that not only did the press maintain the high standards expected from this powerful medium but also that it was not fettered by the influence or threats of any extraneous factors. The theme for this year's celebration is 'Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence'.

Port Blair, Nov. 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to reopen stone quarries in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that he has got feedback from various sections of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands that both private and public sector development initiatives are experiencing a substantial setback due to the unavailability of quarry materials in the Islands.

I extend my heartfelt greetings to all media persons of these Islands on the occasion of "National Press Day," observed with great significance on the 16th of November in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as across the nation.
