Port Blair, June 24: The newly enacted laws - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sahkshya Adhiniyam 2023, will be enforced from July 1, 2024. To ensure its effective implementation, the Andaman & Nicobar Police is conducting an intensive awareness campaign across various segments of society.

These New Criminal Laws prioritize safety and justice for Women, Children, and Vulnerable groups, emphasizing Human Rights and imposing stringent penalties for offenders.

Port Blair, June 24: The 75th Van Mahotsav will be observed in these Islands from 1st July to 31st July, 2024 by the Department of Environment & Forests. On the occasion, saplings from the Nurseries of Forest Extension and Publicity Division shall be distributed free of cost. Further, planting activity at secured/ fenced areas/ land shall also be undertaken. Interested Departments/ Organization/ Community etc., who have secured/ fenced areas/ land under their control may call/ intimate the Range Office, FE&P Range, Haddo over phone no. 03192-245324 or in person on any working days from 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs for planting purpose. The planting shall be undertaken only after inspection of the land/ site by the concerned personnel.

Port Blair, June 24: Mass Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination Campaign is being carried out in South Andaman under the Centrally Sector Scheme, Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LH&DCP). The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, Port Blair, has launched the 29th Round (4th Phase of NADCP) of Foot and Mouth Disease(FMD) mass vaccination. The vaccination campaign began on June 1, 2024, targeting cattle and buffaloes across the villages of South Andaman. The Department constituted 10 specialized vaccination teams for this initiative consisting of vaccinators and animal handlers and Senior Veterinary Officer as the team leader.

Port Blair, June 24: Re-registration for the next semester/year of a programme of Second and third year UG degree learners and second year PG learners of IGNOU has started. IGNOU learners are requested to do the re-registration for the current year immediately. The last date of reregistration is on June 30th 2024. IGNOU reregistration is compulsory if the students wish to continue attend the classes in the next semester, submit assignments and appear for Term End Examination in the December, 2024.
