Port Blair, June 25: The Chairman of ANTCC Campaign Committee, Mr. TSG Bhasker has highlighted the issues faced by farmers which he observed during his 3-day visit to Diglipur.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary (Agriculture) on Monday, Bhasker shared his experience of visiting various villages which were hugely affected by flood and households of poor farmers. He said that the crops sown by farmers in their fields have been completely destroyed and their fertilizers have been totally washed out in the flood.

Port Blair, June 25: The District Administration, South Andaman is continuously carrying out significant anti encroachment drives to preserve community spaces and ensuring lawful use of public property.

The Revenue officials of Ferrargunj Tehsil evicted encroachments at Shoal Bay village on govt. land with the assistance of line depts. viz. PWD and Police. Physical possession of an area 0.05 hectares was restored back to its original position.

Port Blair, June 25: Heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands on June 26. Squally weather with strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to be along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast. Sea condition is also likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast till morning of June 27.

Port Blair, June 25: As part of the observance of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ i.e. on 26th June, 2024, the Directorate of Social Welfare along with Pankh Andaman and Chinmaya Mission Youth Wing will be organizing a marathon event. The event will be held on 26th June, 2024, with the aim of raising awareness about the devastating effects of drug abuse and the urgent need to combat illicit trafficking. The registration of participants will start at 3.30 pm at Netaji Stadium Gate and the Marathon will begin at 4 pm from Netaji Stadium to Flag Point and conclude at Netaji Stadium.

Port Blair, June 25: The vessel MV Campbell Bay is expected to arrive at Port Blair via Campbell Bay & Nancowry on June 27 at 1400 hrs from Chennai. She has 314 passengers and 6 Infants on board with 35 MT Cargo. On arrival, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.
