Port Blair, Nov. 23: A group of 25 IPS Probationers (2021Batch) of 74 RR from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad on Study-cum-Cultural tour to A&N Islands called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas, in presence of DGP In-charge of Andaman & Nicobar Police.

Port Blair, Nov. 23: NABARD Andaman and Nicobar Regional Office had sanctioned a project for geographical indications tagging of 7 products from Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The products include Nicobari Hodi Craft, Andaman and Nicobar Coconut, Nicobari Mat, Nicobari Traditional Virgin Coconut Oil, Nicobari Hut, Andaman Black Rice, Padauk furniture and craft. Application for the Geographical Indication tag was filed for Nicobari Hodi craft on 21.10.2022, which makes it the first product from Andaman & Nicobar Islands to be filed for Geographical Indications tagging.

Port Blair, Nov. 23: The Department of Home Science, JNRM in association with the National Commission for Women, Govt. of India organised a National Seminar on “Rights of Differently Abled Women in Andaman and Nicobar Islands” today.

Inaugurating the seminar, the Chief Guest Smt. Smitha. R, IAS, Secretary (Social Welfare) Andaman &Nicobar Administration congratulated the Department of Home Science for organising this programme, which is the need of hour. The women are in the society are marginalised and the government is taking all possible steps to bring them into mainstream.
