Port Blair, June 24: In a landmark move to enhance healthcare accessibility for building and construction workers, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Health Agency, Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands today at Secretariat. The MoU ensures that eligible registered building and other construction workers will receive coverage under the Ayushman Bharat (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana - PMJAY), a flagship health insurance scheme of the Government of India.

Port Blair, June 24: District Administration, South Andaman has taken strict action against 3 violators who were indulged in illegal mining and were dumping earth in contravention of Land Revenue Regulations.

The total fine imposed is around `5,48,500/- (Five Lakhs Forty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred only). The sites which were inspected by the revenue officers are located in 3 villages i.e Bambooflat, Sippighat and Bimblitan villages.

Port Blair, June 24: The 75th Van Mahotsav will be observed in these Islands from 1st July to 31st July, 2024 by the Department of Environment & Forests. On the occasion, saplings from the Nurseries of Forest Extension and Publicity Division shall be distributed free of cost. Further, planting activity at secured/ fenced areas/ land shall also be undertaken. Interested Departments/ Organization/ Community etc., who have secured/ fenced areas/ land under their control may call/ intimate the Range Office, FE&P Range, Haddo over phone no. 03192-245324 or in person on any working days from 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs for planting purpose. The planting shall be undertaken only after inspection of the land/ site by the concerned personnel.

To ensure its effective implementation, the Andaman & Nicobar Police is conducting an intensive awareness campaign across various segments of society.

Port Blair, June 24: Re-registration for the next semester/year of a programme of Second and third year UG degree learners and second year PG learners of IGNOU has started. IGNOU learners are requested to do the re-registration for the current year immediately. The last date of reregistration is on June 30th 2024. IGNOU reregistration is compulsory if the students wish to continue attend the classes in the next semester, submit assignments and appear for Term End Examination in the December, 2024.
